VADAKARA: The Vadakara NDPS Court has rejected the bail pleas of three accused who are currently in judicial custody in an MDMA-related money transfer case involving teachers. The bail applications filed by the third accused, Kavya, a teacher at the Perambra BRC; the fourth accused, Nishma, a native of Avla; and the fifth accused, Jijin Kuriyakose, a native of Iritty and a delivery worker, were dismissed by Special Judge Anyas Thayyil.

Jijin Kuriyakose is also an accused in another MDMA-related financial transaction case registered by the Payyoli police.In the same case, the first accused, Safwan, a native of Vadakara Thazhe Angadi, had been granted bail by the Vadakara NDPS Court after he had spent 60 days in judicial custody. The second accused, Keerthana, a specialist teacher at the Perambra BRC, was granted bail by the High Court the previous day.

According to the investigating team, Keerthana, Kavya and Nishma had transferred money to the bank account of Jijin Kuriyakose, who is the fifth accused in the case. The investigation team had also found, according to its findings, that transactions amounting to more than Rs 1 crore were carried out through Jijin Kuriyakose's account over a period of six months.

The three accused whose bail pleas were rejected remain in judicial custody following the court's decision.

The investigation team is continuing its probe into the financial transactions allegedly linked to the case. According to the police, efforts are underway to trace the main accused in the case.

The court's decision to reject the bail applications concerns the pleas filed by Kavya, Nishma and Jijin Kuriyakose. The case also includes Safwan and Keerthana as the first and second accused, respectively. While Safwan has already secured bail from the Vadakara NDPS Court after completing 60 days in judicial custody, Keerthana was granted bail by the High Court.

The investigation team's findings regarding the transfers to Jijin Kuriyakose's bank account and the transactions exceeding Rs 1 crore over six months form part of the ongoing investigation. Police are continuing efforts to identify and trace the main accused.
